Tennis Team Trivia
Test your knowledge of coach-player partnerships and support-team roles.
The answers, and why they matter
Borg's coach was Lennart Bergelin. What made the partnership work wasn't tactical genius — it was stability. Bergelin absorbed the pressure around a teenager carrying extraordinary expectations so the player only had to deal with the match.
Agassi's tactical rebuild is associated with Brad Gilbert, alongside Gil Reyes on the physical side. Two specialists, two clearly separated jobs, no overlap. That separation is the part worth copying.
Support roles beyond the head coach include the fitness trainer, nutritionist, sports therapist, masseur, mental coach, yoga coach, and agent or advisor. Most competitive juniors need two or three of them, not all eight — and the order you add them in matters more than the total number.
Test yourself properly
Trivia is fun; the underlying question isn't. If you can't answer these three about your own setup, the team has a gap:
- Whose voice does the player hear at 4–5 in the third?
- Can each person on the team state what they own in one sentence, without overlapping anyone else?
- Who owns the body — load, screening, and return-to-play decisions?
