Tennis Team Builder
Choose the player stage and main bottleneck to get a practical first version of the support team. Free, no signup.
Recommended Team Shape
Core: Primary coach, parent communication rhythm, tournament calendar, fitness basics, recovery habits.
Focus: prioritize one-page plan, weekly team meeting, role boundaries, and a 90-day training block.
Budget posture: Lean and focused. Start with the role that removes the biggest current bottleneck, then add support as results and schedule demand it.
How this tool thinks
The Team Builder isn't trying to sell you more specialists. It's built on the opposite principle: add the role that removes the current bottleneck, then stop. Most families get into trouble by adding people in the order they're offered rather than the order they're needed.
The hiring order that wastes the least money
- Head coach — the tactical and technical owner, and the single voice the player hears under pressure.
- Fitness trainer — usually the highest-return second hire. Here's how to know when it's time.
- Physio / sports therapist — established as a relationship before an injury, not during one.
- Mental coach — once there's a persistent, specific gap between practice level and match level.
- Nutrition consult — often a one-off plus a check-in rather than an ongoing cost.
- Soft tissue / recovery — scaled up around heavy tournament blocks.
- Agent / advisor — once there's revenue or a contract to manage.
The four questions behind the recommendation
- Where does the player lose? Early is usually tactical or mental. Late is usually physical.
- Who currently owns each decision? If the answer is "the coach" for all of them, that's the bottleneck.
- What does the calendar look like? Heavy blocks need recovery support more than they need another technical opinion.
- What's the ceiling on spending? A plan that exceeds the budget isn't a plan.
Three mistakes this tool is designed to prevent
Duplicated expertise. A head coach, an academy program, and a private technical coach all commenting on the same forehand. Expensive, and contradictory instruction is worse than no instruction.
Adding a role without changing the schedule. Bolting gym sessions onto an unchanged court week just increases total load. The week has to be rebuilt as a whole.
Skipping the boring roles. Physical preparation and recovery are the first lines cut and the most expensive to have cut, because the bill arrives as a lost season.
The output here is a starting shape, not a plan. If you want the real version — current setup audited, roles mapped, costs attached — that's our Player Team Audit.
