Big Tennis
Tennis news, ideas, and fan culture — the big-picture view of the sport.
Talent is common. A functioning support system around that talent is not. Pro Tennis Team exists to build the second one.
Scattered advice, an overloaded parent, a coach doing five jobs, and a schedule nobody planned backwards from a goal.
Walk into any competitive junior program and you'll find the same picture. A hard-working player. A coach who is also, by default, the fitness trainer, the travel agent, the sports psychologist, and the person telling the family what tournament to enter next. A parent paying for all of it and making decisions in the dark, usually under pressure, usually late at night after a bad loss.
It isn't a talent problem. It's an organization problem. The player at the top of the draw often isn't more gifted — they're better supported. Someone decided which eight tournaments mattered. Someone built a strength base in the off-season so the player was still standing in August. Someone had the conversation about college versus ITF eighteen months before it had to be answered.
That's the work. Not a magic forehand fix. The boring, decisive architecture behind a career.
We sit on your side of the table and design the support system: who should be on the team, in what order, at what cost, doing what. We audit what already exists, kill what isn't working, plan the next ninety days in detail and the next two years in outline, and prepare you for the conversations that decide funding and placement — sponsors, academies, college coaches, agents.
We are not your coach. We don't take over your child's technique, and we don't replace the people who are already doing a good job. Often our most useful output is telling a family that their coach is excellent and the real gap is a strength program and a schedule with rest in it.
We are frank about fit. If a player is better served by spending the money on court time than on consulting, we will say so on the first call.
